From Design Focused to Optimized For Growth

As a single-product company, Don Roberto's website doesn't emphasize its buzzworthy and unique taste enough. Nor does it provide an easy purchasing experience. We worked with an investor to reimagine the experience while developing nine unique email flows to grow, expand, and increase customer purchases.

Custom Shopify Store

When surveying beer drinkers, we heard a common objection: "I don't drink Micheladas because I don't like clam juice." So, we focused on educating customers on the unique traditional recipe, and made the lack of Clamato crystal clear.

Search Engine Optimization

Google and Bing rely on Schema Markups to appropriately place websites and products in search. We ensured proper schema with review ratings, an important new focus we built around spreading word of mouth.

Review Incentives

Reviews were a key focus of the project, with the goal of ranking high in Google product searches. A product review flow was built to offer a gift to a friend when including a photo or video—which posted across social media.

Email Marketing

Through nine unique email flows and 40+ custom emails, we developed a complete marketing program with quantity-based triggers for increasing reorder sizes, a VIP program, and recapturing abandoned carts and checkout.

What's missing?

The website was designed for existing customers to reorder. Set optimization aside, the website barely explained the product, with no list of ingredients, explanation of taste, or bottle size.

  • Missing Call to Action (CTA) Above the fold
  • Single product with no add to cart or quick checkout on home page
  • Low search-engine crawl-ability due to images replacing text and no schema.
  • Lack of reviews or any social proof
  • No product explanation

Word of Mouth

To understand objections, we asked beer drinkers if they enjoy a Michelada. Many dislike clamato, not knowing that the traditional—non—clamato—flavors of this product exist. So, we emphasized this.

Plus, making it very easy to add to the cart and checkout on every page and from anywhere.

How we improved it

As a single-product company, no focus was placed on the product. The "store" is the product page and misses the opportunity to educate and convert new customers.

  • Built a dedicated, detailed product page
  • Changed the order sizes from 1, 3, & 12 to a toggle quantity
  • Introduced several price breaks on quantity and free shipping based on spend.
  • Introduced reviews incentivizing adding photos or video for social proof
